A Character Building Focus

At L.V.E.A. we know that spirituality means different things to people. For some, it is based on faith and religious traditions. For others, it is a practice of mindfulness or meditation in everyday life. We celebrate and honor whatever spirituality means to your family. Nothing we teach should conflict with anyone's belief system from atheism to orthodoxy, Belief in a higher being is a personal issue and should not be forced or required. However, we believe that every child can benefit from learning positive principles that can be found in every creed and belief system.

Our fundamental belief – that every child is special and should be given the opportunity to reach his or her potential – is the motivating factor behind the organization of this school.  Children should know they are loved and have a purpose in this life. We guide them on their path of self-discovery.

We refer to spirit as part of the child that is not the body or mind. It is the beautiful, unique, indescribable essence or light inside of everyone. It is the deeper, purposeful core of who they are. We seek to nourish this part - to promote interconnectedness, compassion, integrity, joy, love, creativity, and the wisdom to make good choices.

There is a lesson taught each week that pertains to a social-emotional idea to help our students develop the ability to make these good choices. We learn with the stories of the Bible, other cultural/religious stories or myths, and literature. Our lessons focus on character building and ethics which enable our students to make wise decisions in life. We are big on affirmations, positive thoughts, and expression of feelings.

As students are finding their path, there is an improvement in various work and life skills as they seize the opportunity in every challenge, both internal and external, and manage their emotions. They ultimately develop confidence and their sense of purpose.

"The faith and virtue that they instill in the children is priceless."
